MEET THE ARTIST
Charlize Beaudoin is a visual artist based in Tangent, Alberta, whose work uses vivid portraiture to explore the complexity of human emotion. Working primarily in oil and acrylic, Charlize uses colour as a language to translate her perception of emotion into compelling visual narratives.
Her desire to capture more than just likeness is a foundation of her practice. Inspired by perception and a fascination with one's inner feelings, each portrait is an emotional landscape that is designed to evoke feelings in the viewer. This exploration was at the heart of her BFA Honours Exhibition, Surreal Emotion, and continues to evolve through her involvement with the Grande Prairie Guild of Artists, where she recently exhibited in their 40th Anniversary Show.
Charlize earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree from the University of Saskatchewan, an experience that sharpened her technical skills and deepened her conceptual voice. Now, from her small-town studio, she continues to create and explore colour, feeling, and form.
